Clara Balzary was born and raised in Los Angeles, CA, where she now lives. While she works both at home and abroad, her work retains the sunny optimistic ease of life in California. Her images place an emphasis on authenticity of spirit and joy in movement.
Her distinctive work in fashion and portraiture has been featured in publications such as The Gentlewoman, i-D, Dazed, T Magazine, and Vogue. Commercial clients include Nike, Apple, Proenza Schouler, Gucci, Adidas, Glossier, and Mercedes-Benz. Balzary’s work as a filmmaker continues to grow, Her short film, Lou, premiered in competition at the Toronto International Film Festival. Her personal photography practice includes documentary work in and around California, including her ongoing project with the United Farmworkers Foundation, and her 2022 book Big Fresh Air.
